Simon Ekrelius is a Swedish costume designer known for his distinctive eye for blending historical authenticity with contemporary sensibilities. With a meticulous attention to detail, he is committed to script accuracy while creating natural, character-driven costumes that support storytelling.
His first costume design credit came with an SVT feature in 1999. He subsequently spent several years working in fashion while contributing to selected advertising projects, broadening his expertise in design, textiles, and visual aesthetics.
Since 2015, Ekrelius has worked exclusively in costume design. He has held long-term contracts with the BBC and Sky Arts and has served as Head of Department on numerous award-winning productions across film and television.
His commercial portfolio includes campaigns for Samsung, Adidas, Vidal Sassoon, British American Tobacco, and Channel 4's Super Bowl promotions, collaborating with internationally recognised brands and broadcasters.
Having lived and worked in Toronto and London for many years, Simon is now based in Stockholm, Sweden, where he continues to design for film, television, and commercial productions.
